About This Course
To understand processes that shaped independent India such as the Constitution of India, the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judicial, electoral politics, federalism and the federal structure, communalism and communal politics, linguistic movements etc.
To enhance theoretical understanding and develop methodological skills in these three branches of Political Science; and relate political processes with social structures and ideas;
To enable students to interpret institutions, policies and processes in a historical perspective and emphasis on the study of political developments in India and promotes theoretically informed analysis of social and political reality.
It provides students with the opportunity for a more intensive study of political parties, pressure groups, regional politics, social movements, centre-state relations, development policy and administration.
To expose the students to the diverse political philosophies, from the ancient to modern times, and how have they envisioned of and engaged with the issues of rights, liberty, equality, justice, citizenship, constitution, and constitutionalism, etc.

Provide students with combination of theoretical and pragmatic knowledge of the political environment.
Develop in students the ability to conceptualize the theories and aspects of the subject.
To enable students to have a clear and deep understanding of Political Science which shall expose them to the avenues of practical politics and administration.
Enable students to generate rational and balanced thinking after proper look into pros and cons of an issue and how this impacts globally and domestic politics.
It enable students to use the skills and disciplinary insights to critically examine, assess, and explain the political phenomenon. And it would produce an active, participatory, and responsible citizen strengthening the functioning of the democratic system.
