As per the guidelines laid down by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC), every affiliated college is required to establish both an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad to curb and eliminate any form of ragging on campus. The Anti-Ragging Squad is a smaller, vigilant body that functions under the broader Anti-Ragging Committee. While the Committee formulates policies and oversees their implementation, the Squad has an active on-ground role in ensuring these policies are enforced strictly.

The Anti-Ragging Squad at affiliated colleges like Tetso College plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and inclusive educational environment. The squad is composed of faculty members, administrative staff, and in some cases, senior students. Their presence across various locations of the campus, such as hostels, canteens, libraries, classrooms, and corridors, ensures close monitoring and timely intervention in case of any incident.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Anti-Ragging Squad:

  • Conduct surprise inspections in hostels, academic blocks, canteens, and other common areas.
  • Monitor student interactions and detect early signs of bullying or ragging.
  • Respond immediately to reports or complaints of ragging.
  • Investigate incidents promptly and submit factual reports to the Anti-Ragging Committee.
  • Coordinate with the institution's disciplinary authority and recommend action against those found guilty.
  • Maintain constant vigilance, especially during the first few weeks of the academic year when new students arrive.
  • Encourage and support students to report ragging without fear.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns to educate students about anti-ragging policies and laws.
  • Ensure confidentiality and protection of the complainant’s identity and dignity.

Benefits of Having an Anti-Ragging Squad at Tetso College:

At Tetso College, the presence of an active Anti-Ragging Squad demonstrates the institution’s commitment to student welfare and safety. It fosters a zero-tolerance culture towards ragging, thereby enhancing trust and confidence among students and parents alike. New students feel welcomed and secure, which in turn improves overall student satisfaction and retention.

The Squad’s proactive presence not only prevents potential incidents but also promotes a respectful and inclusive campus environment. It helps cultivate leadership and accountability among senior students and builds a strong support system. Moreover, it aligns Tetso College with AICTE and UGC compliance standards, reinforcing the institution’s credibility and reputation in higher education.
