Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) – A National Initiative
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, established in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in 2018. The initiative aims to systematically promote innovation, entrepreneurship, startup culture, and problem-solving skills among students and faculty members in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Tetso College is committed to fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning among students and faculty members. The council serves as a dynamic platform to encourage innovative thinking, leadership, collaboration, and startup-oriented initiatives within the institution.
Aligned with the vision of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), the IIC at Tetso College actively promotes idea generation, design thinking, research, and entrepreneurial development through various academic and co-curricular activities. The council aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical application by encouraging students to identify real-world problems and develop innovative solutions.
The IIC organizes seminars, workshops, expert talks, innovation challenges, entrepreneurship awareness programmes, hackathons, and industry interaction sessions to nurture creativity and problem-solving abilities. Through mentorship, guidance, and collaborative learning opportunities, students are encouraged to transform their ideas into impactful projects, prototypes, and entrepreneurial ventures.
The council also works towards creating awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), startup ecosystems, incubation support, and innovation policies. By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and industry engagement, the IIC at Tetso College strives to build an innovation-driven ecosystem that empowers students to become future leaders, innovators, and responsible entrepreneurs.
Objectives

Dr. Wapangsenla Imchen is an accomplished academician and researcher with over 14 years of experience in higher education, specializing in Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Strategic Leadership. As the Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Management at Tetso College, she has played a pivotal role in academic leadership, curriculum development, and fostering industry-academia linkages.
As the President of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), she brings strong expertise in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning among students. Her leadership aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Education’s innovation initiatives, focusing on nurturing creative thinking, startup culture, and problem-solving capabilities within the campus ecosystem .
Dr. Imchen is actively involved in research and has been awarded a Major Research Project by ICSSR, reflecting her commitment to impactful, policy-oriented research, particularly in entrepreneurship and rural development. She has also served as a resource person in workshops, seminars, and leadership development programs, contributing significantly to capacity building and student skill enhancement.
Her vision for IIC emphasizes building a vibrant innovation ecosystem through ideation platforms, industry collaboration, and startup mentoring, thereby empowering students to become future-ready leaders and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Rajesh Tanti

Dr. Rajesh Tanti is an academician and researcher in the field of Human Resource Management, with a strong focus on leadership development, innovation, and personal growth. He currently serves as the Vice President and Convenor of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), where he plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing innovation and entrepreneurship activities within the institution.
With extensive experience in teaching, training, and research, Dr. Tanti is committed to nurturing students’ potential by promoting self-leadership, creativity, and employability skills. He is actively involved in conducting workshops, seminars, and mentoring sessions to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application.
Dr. Salam Nandakishor

Dr. Salam Nandakishor received his Ph.D. from the NIT Nagaland. His research focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), particularly emphasis on audio-visual speech recognition and speech processing. His research contributions have been published in several reputed international journals, conferences, as well as books and book chapters. He currently serves as “Technical Research, Patents & Innovation” Coordinator and also actively involved in “Career Counseling & Placement Cell”.
Prior to entering academia, he gained valuable experience in the IT industry, which complements his strong teaching expertise developed over the years. He has also contributed to several government-sponsored research projects, with notable research and development contributions in the field of speech processing:
- Development of and Deployment of Scalable Speaker Recognition in Different Applications under the Bhashini Project.
- Development of a speech-based multi-level person authentication system.
- Development of Prosodically Guided Phonetic Engine for Searching Databases in Indian Languages
Rani Majaw
Startup Activity Coordinator

Ms. Rani Majaw is an enthusiastic academician and dedicated professional serving as an assistant professor, with an additional role as the startup activity coordinator. She is committed to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical learning among students.
With a strong academic background and a growing focus on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, computer vision, and natural language processing, she actively integrates modern concepts into teaching and student projects. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D., further strengthening her expertise in advanced computing and research.
Notably, she has presented a research paper at the G20 Summit, reflecting her active engagement in academic research and contribution to global knowledge-sharing platforms.
Her approach to teaching is student-centric, focusing on experiential learning, project-based development, and skill enhancement. She is passionate about guiding students toward academic excellence, research involvement, and real-world problem-solving.

N Chuhyem Konyak is an academician specializing in Human Resource Management (HRM), Marketing Management, and Entrepreneurship & Startup Development. He is passionate about teaching and committed to promoting academic excellence, practical learning, and holistic student development.
He actively encourages students to cultivate leadership qualities, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurial mindsets suited to the evolving business environment. His academic interests include organizational behavior, workforce development, business innovation, and strategic marketing practices.
Apart from teaching, he is actively involved in academic mentoring and institutional responsibilities. He serves as a Student Council Member and Coordinator of the Minority Cell, and formerly served as the Assistant Coordinator of the Placement Cell. Dr. Ajay Chakraborty serves as the Internship Activity Coordinator of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), where he plays a vital role in promoting industry exposure, experiential learning, and skill development among students. With over 19 years of experience in higher education, he has been actively guiding students toward professional growth through internships, field-based learning, and industry interaction.
He possesses strong expertise in Accounting and Finance and has been awarded a Major Research Project by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). His research interests include Personal Finance, Rural Studies, and Entrepreneurship.
As Internship Activity Coordinator, Dr. Chakraborty works towards strengthening the connection between academic learning and practical experience by facilitating internship opportunities, encouraging innovation-driven activities, and supporting students in developing employability and entrepreneurial skills. His dedication and leadership continue to contribute significantly to the objectives of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC).

Talinungsang is an academician, technology professional, and innovation facilitator with over 13 years of experience in higher education, ICT training, academic administration, and digital capacity-building initiatives. He currently serves as the Assistant Dean for the School of Computer Science, IT & NIELIT at Tetso College, where he actively contributes to academic leadership, technology integration, and industry-academia collaboration.
As the Innovation Activity Coordinator of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), he is committed to promoting innovation-driven learning, entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and experiential education among students. He has played a key role in initiating collaborations and MoUs with institutions such as NIELIT Kohima and industry partners to facilitate skill development programs, internships, and technology-oriented training opportunities.
His areas of interest include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Recommender Systems, and educational technology. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. from Tezpur University with research focused on music recommender systems and intelligent information systems. With extensive experience in ICT training, digital literacy initiatives, multimedia content development, and academic event coordination, he continues to work towards building an ecosystem that encourages creativity, technical competence, innovation, and industry readiness among students.
