Featuring Nise Meruno and Gyaan Bhuyan

Nise Meruno: 
Nise Meruno is an International Concert Artiste, who was trained in Singapore with Piano as his major, along with Voice, Conducting, and Composition. He has performed and conducted workshops all over Europe, Asia and the UK. Nise was also the Director of a famous male chorus ‘Zowe Madrigal’ and show choir ‘Voices of Hope’ which performed in India and beyond. From Indian Presidents, and foreign dignitaries, to celebrities like Aamir Khan, and two Ambani weddings, Nise’s music has graced them all.

Nise is the cultural Ambassador of Music for the region, although he is more renowned for his flair in Western Classical Music. He is the recipient of several awards such as the Performer’s Award, Governor’s Award 2007, Young Achiever’s Award 2012, and JK Choudhary Award 2014. He was also recognized by India Today magazine as one of the top 30 young achievers of the country in 2011. Meruno was mentioned by the top international Piano Magazine by Rhine Gold Publications UK as one of the trendy and versatile pianists to look out for. He was the Brand Ambassador for the Austrian Music company AKG and also became the first Indian to be labelled as ‘Yamaha Artist’ for Yamaha Pianos, Japan. Meruno was also invited to speak at the prestigious TED Talk recently.

Gyaan Bhuyan:
A 24-year-old Assamese Baritone and Conductor from North-East India. Gyaan Bhuyan, who is a Rivers Symmonds Scholar, pursuing his undergraduate vocal studies at the Royal College of Music, under the tutelage of Patricia Rozario OBE and Gary Matthewman.

Bhuyan began singing from a tender age of seven as a choir boy at Christ Church Guwahati, Assam (Est’d 1844). One of his earliest memories of singing goes back to the year 2009 when he sang “Once in Royal David’s City” in the beginning of the Nine Lessons and Carols at Christ Church. In the year 2019, he was a Playback Singer in the film Aamis (Ravening) Directed by Bhaskar Hazarika which won the Best Director Award at the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF).  

Gyaan has performed at various venues across London including places like the Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Banquet Hall of The Fishmonger’s Company to name a few. As a Baritone, he has performed as one of the Huntsmen in John Blow’s Opera, Venus and Adonis presented by the RCM Historical Performance Faculty in collaboration with the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Bhuyan has also played the roles of Don Giovanni and Count Almaviva from Le Nozze di Figaro. Moreover, it has been three years since Gyaan achieved the position as Cantor at the Roman Catholic Church of St Mary Magdalen, Willesden Green and he regularly cantors for every Mass. He has a particular interest in English Art Song, Lieder, and a profound love for Bach’s Music. Gyaan’s recent performance was the premier of Laura Karpman’s “Balls” at the Royal Festival Hall, London with the Philharmonia under Marin Alsop’s direction.
